Crossing the sandbars of the Tenryu River by ferry at Mitsuke, the twenty-eighth station of the Tokaido. The river was so wide travellers changed boats twice; Hiroshige layers distant boats in mist behind the boatmen in front to create depth. Grey mist, blue water and yellow sandbar form the layers.
