Tehamana, the thirteen-year-old girl who lived with Gauguin during his first stay in Tahiti, in a missionary dress, painted in 1893. The Easter Island glyphs and idol on the wall behind are the "ancestors" of the title, invented by Gauguin. Yellow wall, white flowers and violet dress divide into simple planes.
