Pierre-Auguste Renoir
A woman sewing in front of a bouquet, painted in 1879. Her face is softly blurred while the flowers behind carry the strongest colour. Renoir said at the time that a painting should be "joyous, pretty and beautiful", and this small canvas is exactly that.
