The most famous of Cézanne's still lifes. The tilted basket, table edges that do not line up and the stacked biscuits are not mistakes but several viewpoints combined on one surface, an idea Picasso would carry into Cubism. Cézanne worked on an arrangement for weeks, until the apples rotted.
