Venus está en el centro de un naranjal; a la derecha el viento del oeste apresa a una ninfa que se transforma en Flora, diosa de las flores, mientras a la izquierda bailan las tres Gracias y Mercurio despeja las nubes. En el prado crecen unas quinientas plantas identificables. Pintado para los Médici, es la esencia de la mitología renacentista hecha pintura.
