El primero de los veinte lienzos de La epopeya eslava, pintados por Mucha entre 1910 y 1928. Tras un saqueo, una pareja se esconde de noche entre la hierba mirando con miedo, arden fuegos en el horizonte y, en lo alto del cielo estrellado, un sacerdote pagano de blanco flota entre las figuras de la guerra y la paz. La pareja de blanco, el sacerdote y el fuego son las referencias; el cielo gris azulado se ordena por las estrellas.
