Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
A circus rider on a white horse with a clown circling the ring, painted on vellum in 1888. Lautrec loved the circus all his life; confined to a clinic for alcoholism in 1899, he drew thirty-nine circus scenes from memory to prove he was well enough to leave.
