A cover design for the special 1898 issue of Au Quartier Latin, a magazine of the Paris student district. A woman in a wide-brimmed hat, her eyes veiled, wears a high black collar and a vermilion gown and holds a bunch of flowers and a tiny figure raising his hat, while the magazine's name curves round a ring behind her like a halo. The knotwork band at left and the lettering at top anchor the puzzle; leave the broad red skirt for last.
