Foxhounds at a Kennel Door
John Emms
A pack of foxhounds gathered at a doorway, looking out. When Emms painted hounds in numbers he changed the focus between the front rank and the back, so only the nearest dogs are sharp and the rest soften with distance. That softening is what tells you how far back a piece belongs.
