San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk

Während seines Aufenthalts in Venedig im Herbst 1908 malte Monet die Kirche und den Campanile von San Giorgio Maggiore über die Lagune hinweg im Abendlicht. Himmel und Wasser, beide orange und violett gefärbt, gehen ineinander über, sodass die Gebäude nur als Silhouetten bleiben. Es ist das farbstärkste Bild seiner venezianischen Serie.
