The Arnolfini Portrait
Jan van Eyck
Un retrato doble de un mercader de Brujas y su mujer, y una de las primeras obras maestras de la pintura al óleo. Un espejo convexo en la pared del fondo refleja toda la habitación y a dos visitantes, y encima van Eyck escribió: «Jan van Eyck estuvo aquí, 1434». La única vela del candelabro, las naranjas junto a la ventana y el perrillo a sus pies muestran hasta dónde podía llegar el óleo al describir el mundo.
