Ten Symbols of Longevity (Sipjangsaengdo)
Unknown Korean artist
A screen gathering ten symbols of long life in one landscape: sun, mountains, water, rocks, clouds, pines, the herb of immortality, tortoises, cranes and deer. Such screens stood in the palace to wish the king longevity or to greet the new year, and the blue-green hills with a red sun and white cranes make one of the most colourful subjects of Joseon court painting.
