The sculptor Jacques Lipchitz and his wife Berthe, painted by their friend Modigliani in 1916, his only double portrait. Lipchitz commissioned it to help the penniless painter and persuaded him to work two weeks instead of finishing in a day. Elongated faces and almond eyes are Modigliani's signature.
