An evening marsh painted in 1871 by Daubigny of the Barbizon school, with a cloudy sky filling most of the canvas above a low horizon. He painted from a boat converted into a floating studio and encouraged the young Monet to work outdoors. Sky reflected in the pools cuts paths through the dark ground.
