Die Temeraire, eine Heldin von Trafalgar, wird von einem kleinen Dampfschlepper zum Abwracken geschleppt. Das bleiche, gespenstische Segelschiff, der schwarzen Rauch speiende Schlepper und der lodernde Sonnenuntergang betrauern gemeinsam das Ende der Segelzeit. Zum Lieblingsgemälde der Briten gewählt, erscheint es heute auf der Zwanzig-Pfund-Note.
