Norham Castle, Sunrise

El castillo de Norham, junto al río Tweed, en la frontera entre Inglaterra y Escocia, se disuelve en una silueta azul bajo el sol de la mañana en esta obra tardía. Turner lo había dibujado y pintado muchas veces desde joven; este lienzo nunca se expuso en vida del pintor y pasó al Estado con el legado Turner. Salvo el resplandor amarillo del sol y una vaca rojiza que bebe en el río, apenas hay formas definidas, y el puzle obliga a leer sutiles cambios de color.
