John Singer Sargent
Una actuación de flamenco que Sargent pintó a partir de su viaje por España y presentó en el Salón de París de 1882. Las candilejas iluminan desde abajo a la bailaora, que se arquea hacia atrás con su amplia falda blanca, mientras los guitarristas y quienes tocan palmas junto a la pared proyectan grandes sombras temblorosas sobre el yeso. Isabella Stewart Gardner mandó construir después un claustro de estilo español para exponerlo.
