The ornate fronts of the seventeenth-century guild houses around the Grand-Place in Brussels, each storey heaped with gilding and sculpture and each building still bearing the name of an old merchants' guild, with a flower market in the square. One of Europe's most beautiful squares as it looked in the 1890s.
