Jules Chéret
An advertisement for the indoor ice rink on the Champs-Élysées, 1891, by Jules Chéret, the "father of the poster". A laughing woman in a red dress skates with a gentleman in black behind her. Chéret's cheerful women, nicknamed "chérettes", filled the streets of Paris.
